What I think of the iPad.
Yesterday Apple unveiled what could be the future of technology - or just another gizmo - the iPad, a tablet device.
When the iPhone came out, the first time I laid my hands on one I wanted one. The iPhone made my life complete (may sound sad, but it really did). So will the iPad do this for me again?
In his speech yesterday, Steve Jobs questioned “whether there is room for a third category device in-between a laptop or a smart-phone.” Is there? Yes the iPad looks unique, but isn’t it just essentially a larger Netbook with touch-screen features? Maybe. I think it will change the way we surf the Internet. The way we read e-Mails. The way we view and share photos. The way we view videos (it has YouTube HD support).
Looking at the iPad from various photos and reading the specification, isn’t it just essentially a larger iPhone. Are people ready for another device or is the iPhone all they need at the moment?
I think Apple, and it is quite obvious, are targeting iPhone and iPod touch users with the iPad because if you have either one, you will know how to use the iPad.
Let’s wait for the release in the UK and find out what the US think of the device.
